Congratulations to the 14 youth who graduated from the Philpott Leadership program and are now Tennis Canada certified coaches
The Philpott Leadership Program continues to be a remarkable example of youth empowerment and community impact. This year, all 14 participants in the program successfuly passed the certification course to become Tennis Canada certified coaches.
These newly minted coaches are now employed across Philpott’s 16 program sites city-wide, where they are inspiring and mentoring the next generation of young tennis enthusiasts.
“We are incredibly proud of our new coaches and excited to see the positive impact they will have on the next generation of kids.”, says Richard Crowell, Philpott Executive Director. “They work so hard throughout the winter months to improve their playing level and hone their leadership and communication skills; all to be prepared for the Tennis Canada Coaching course and evaluation. Now they’re working in our summer program, earning valuable income, and becoming leaders in their communities.”
Building Future Leaders and Lifelong Friendships
Becoming Tennis Canada certified coaches is a signficant achievement for these youth. It opens up numerous opportunities to earn income, contribute positively to their communities, and it provides a platform to apply their skills and make a tangible difference.
In addition to developing leadership skills, they also develop lasting friendships and a sense of community. These bonds often extend beyond the program, creating a support network that benefits the participants in all aspects of their lives.
“Philpott opened the door to a community of coaches and players my age”, says Dobromil, one of this year’s gradutes, “The feeling of community started with Head Coach Stephan. He made everything comfortable, and that carried over to our group. Now we’re all friends. The other coaches and I were talking at lunch and saying just how grateful we are to be part of Philpott.”
