Philpott Children’s Tennis is inviting nominations for experienced, values-driven leaders to join our volunteer Board of Directors.
Board members provide strategic oversight, strengthen governance, and help guide the long-term direction and impact of the organization.

About Philpott Children's Tennis
Philpott Children’s Tennis provides high-quality tennis and leadership development programs to children and youth from Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods.
Our mission is to help young people reach their potential on and off the court by offering accessible programming, mentorship, and a supportive community.
Each year, Philpott operates spring, summer, fall, and winter programs at more than a dozen locations, supported by a dedicated team of certified coaches, youth leaders, and volunteers.

Specifically, who we are looking for
Fundraising and Philanthropy
Experience with donations, sponsorships, major gifts, and cultivating donors
Governance and Legal
Experience in not-for-profit governance, policy, compliance, and overshight.
Finance and Accounting
Financial oversight, including financial risk management, CRA/tax compliance, financial planning and reporting, and internal contrals
Youth Development and Education
Understanding of youth development and alignments with Philpott’s mission and community impact.
Marketing, Branding & Communications
Brand strategy, storytelling, public relations, digital marketing, and partnership development
Sport / Tennis Community
Philpott is committed to reflecting and representing the diversity of Canada at all levels of the organization
Responsibilities
Board members are responsible for:
Providing governance and fiduciary oversight, ensuring strong policies, compliance, and risk management.
Overseeing, evaluating, and supporting the Executive Director, including contributing to the annual performance review.
Ensuring financial stewardship by approving budgets, audited financials, and overseeing financial health.
Participating in board committees, including Governance, Nominating, Audit, Finance & Risk, and Brand & Revenue.
Offering strategic guidance and expertise.
Acting as ambassadors and advocates, representing and advancing Philpott Children’s Tennis with stakeholders.
Time Commitment
The Board meets quarterly, with additional meetings called from time to time depending on the needs of the organization.
Directors are encouraged to engage in fundraising activities, committee work, and other initiatives from time to time, as may be required.
Eligibility
Nominees must:
Be 18 years of age or older.
Primarily reside and/or work in Canada.
Be in a position to engage in Board responsibilities in person in the GTA.
Successfully complete required screening, including a criminal record check, Safe Sport sanction check, and self-disclosure.
Agree to sign Philpott’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Be eligible to participate in Canadian sport, including not having any provisional or permanent sanctions imposed, impending, or threatened against them by a national or provincial/territorial sport body, the Canadian Safe Sport Program, a private tribunal, or a government agency.
