Philpott Children’s Tennis is thrilled to announce that the 37th Annual Philpott Ladies Invitational Tennis Tournament raised over $80,000 for children in Toronto’s priority needs neighbourhoods!

On January 25th and 26th, over 250 female tennis players and Philpott supporters attended the 37th Annual Ladies Invitational tournament in support of Philpott Children’s Tennis.
After a 3-year hiatus due to Covid-related cancellations, everyone was thrilled to have this tournament back on their tennis calendars! With wide support from the Toronto ladies tennis community, players from 9 tennis clubs participated in two days of tennis culminating in a spectacular evening gala.
Thank you to everyone from Bayview G&CC, Boulevard Club, Badminton and Racquet Club, Donalda Club, Granite Club, Lambton G&CC, Mayfair Lakeshore, Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club, and the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, who supported the event.
The two-day tournament took place at various clubs across the GTA, who generously provided court time for 7 divisions of competition. In anticipation of the Gala evening themed “A Night in Colour”, the players brought their colourful outfits to the courts as well, with many of the teams dressing in their division colours!

The dinner was themed “A Night in Colour” and everyone had fun celebrating with colourful food, cocktails, decor, and team outfits! The gala was a time to meet and greet opponents and friends, enjoy a delicious dinner, a spectacular wine raffle, and bid on some fabulous silent auction items. Thank you to Barb Hillary from Bayview G&CC for being the wonderful MC for the night.

The Silent Auction featured amazing items including sporting tickets, jewellery items, art, restaurant experiences and more! Big thanks to all of the local businesses who made donations.

The Annual Ladies Invitational Tournament is the largest and longest standing fundraiser for Philpott Children’s Tennis. Through this event, the ladies of the Toronto tennis community have been supporting the work and mission of Philpott Children’s Tennis for decades; our important work could not continue without their continued support.
This event allows us to introduce tennis to over 4,500 inner-city kids annually who otherwise would not be able to afford a tennis program. The charity is working hard to create more female role models for young women tennis players through their enhanced leadership program that allows youth from the community to train as instructors and go on to become paid Philpott employees.
The success of our Kids’ Tennis programs over the past thirty years is the result of hard work and continued donor support. These programs are possible thanks to dedicated individuals who, like you, wish to make a difference in the lives of thousands of kids living in priority neighbourhoods across Toronto.
Together, we are making sure that there is A PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO PLAY!
