Celebrating the Launch of Our New Alumni Program: A Journey from Past to Present
We were thrilled to launch our new Alumni program with a special tennis event held at the Courts at San Romanoway where over 30 former coaches and participants reconnected for a fun evening of tennis and friendship.
The Alumni Program is spearheaded by Thuginthan, one of our past participants and a graduate of the Philpott Leadership Program. Thuginthan’s journey with Philpott started at age five and he grew up playing each year in our summer camp. Now a proud graduate of our program and a certified coach, he is pursuing an undergraduate degree in business at University of Toronto.
“So many of our coaches started as participants just like me,” explains Thuginthan. “Now we’re off to university and pursing jobs that align with our professional aspirations. Through this program, I hope we can stay connected and continue to benefit from and support each other while we move foward in our careers”.
3 Generations of Philpott reunite at First Alumni event

This inaugural event was also a beautiful tapestry of memories, connections, and shared experiences, drawing together three generations of past participants and coaches.
One particulary touching moment unfolded during a conversation between Kim and Lindsay. They discovered that Lindsay had been Kim’s very first coach at our Malvern site over two decades ago. The realization that Marco, who was also present at the event, had been coached by Kim when she went on to become the coach at Malverin, added another layer of connection to this beautiful story.
The Story didn’t end there!

After the event, Kim and Lindsay connected and they recalled a special tradition from their camp days when all the kids signed Lindsey’s Philpott shirt at the end of the summer. Lindsey found the shirt in her closet and showed it to Kim (pictured ). There it was – Kim’s name, signed as a young child who had just discovered her love for tennis.
About our Alumni Program
The purpose of our Alumni program is to foster a supportive and connected community where former participants and coaches can network, mentor, and support one another as they embark on their professional journeys. Many of our coaches, like Thuginthan, started as participants and have now moved on to pursue professional goals. This program offers a vehicle for them to stay connected and continue to contribute to each other’s growth and success.
We can’t wait for the next event!
We are excited about the future of our Alumni Program and look forward to the countless stories of connection, mentorship, and support that will emerge from it. Together, we will continue to build a community that transcends tennis, nurturing lifelong friendships and professional collaborations. Here’s to many more years of shared memories and achievements!
