This year the Boulevard Club in partnership with the Doug Philpott Inner City Children’s Tennis Fund is providing the Parkdale community with a junior indoor tennis program. This fall and winter program is offered to children between the ages of 7 and 12 and runs from November 7th to February 27th, 2016. Every Saturday evening fourteen children make their way to the Boulevard Club to participate in this free program that focuses on developing fundamental skills for children to play tennis – the sport of a lifetime. In addition to skill development, a strong focus is placed on developing a love for the game of tennis.
Thank you to the Boulevard Club members for realizing the importance of these lessons and forfeiting their court time and stepping up to sponsor the cost of equipment, clothing and tennis instruction. We are truly grateful to Paul Cairns for suggesting this program and then organizing it for the children. Also a big thank you to Carlos Gelev and Jamie Noskiewicz for their tennis instructional expertise. As you know these qualified instructors help Philpott Kids learn more than tennis – they learn valuable lessons about fitness, leadership, cooperation, discipline and self-confidence. This is the first time the Philpott children from the Parkdale Community have had access to indoor winter lessons. The Philpott Board of Directors and the children say thank you to all the members and staff at the Boulevard Club that have made this exceptional experience happen!
