The instructional classes for our youth at L’Amoreaux are up and running. The goal is to assist our Philpott volunteers who are 16 years old, prepare for the Tennis Canada Level One certification course. L’Amoreaux (Scarborough Winter Tennis Club) agreed to make the courts available to us and our instructors Ricky and his daughter Jessica Chee provided the coaching. There are six participants who are certification course ready. Tennis Canada pays for the first four candidates and Philpott will cover the cost of the fifth and sixth candidate. The young people were all volunteers for Philpott last summer and most learned how to play tennis in their neighbourhoods through the Philpott tennis program. These youth will be encouraged to apply to us for employment this upcoming summer as Assistant Instructors.
